New Artwork for Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”
August 11, 2008

The Princess and the Frog is Disney’s return to traditional hand-drawn-style animation. Over at DisneyAnimation.com, there is a gallery of “visual development” images that give us more of the background depicting 1920s New Orleans and its vicinity. The artwork is beautiful and really got me excited about the movie. However, we all have to wait until Christmas 2009 to see this one.

‘Dark Knight’ tops weekend once again
August 11, 2008
The Fourth No. 1 helps make The Dark Knight the third-biggest film of all time.
Bruce Wayne made like Bruce Jenner this weekend, as Batman took home the box office gold yet again.
Sony’s stoner comedy “Pineapple Express” couldn’t cop the session’s top berth, despite a heady $40.5 million in estimated domestic grosses since bowing Wednesday. Midweek binging sapped its Friday-Sunday strength, and the Seth Rogen-James Franco movie had to settle for a silver medal with $22.4 million over a weekend seemingly influenced by Olympics telecasts.

Brad Pitt is a ‘Bastard’
August 8, 2008

Brad Pitt has closed his deal to star in “Inglorious Bastards,” the WWII drama that Quentin Tarantino will direct for the Weinstein Co. and Universal.
Additionally, Nastassja Kinski is in early talks to play one of the sole female roles in the film. Casting the German-born actress jibes with Tarantino’s habit of resuscitating dormant careers. Kinski, who has stayed away from mainstream American films for nearly a decade, would play a German movie queen. Read more
Kevin Smith Saves ‘Porno’ With Rating Appeal
August 7, 2008
Filmmaker Kevin Smith has won an appeal to lower the rating for his comedy “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” from an adults-only NC-17 to an R.
Motion Picture Association of America spokeswoman Elizabeth Kaltman said Tuesday the rating was revised after the group’s appeals board viewed the movie.
“We didn’t set out to make an NC-17 film. That’s just commercial suicide,” Smith told The Associated Press.
The NC-17 rating would have prohibited anyone younger than 17 from seeing it. With an R rating, those under 17 can see it in the company of an adult. Read more

Word is that Mike Myers has started writing the fourth installment of the Austin Powers series.
Myers reportedly will make the father and son theme strong and loosely based on his life. Austin Powers 4 will focus on villain Dr. Evil and his son, Scott Evil, played by actor Seth Green.
