5 Actresses Want the Female Lead in Green Lantern

Who is going to play Green Lantern’s girlfriend? There are five actresses in the running for the role of Carol Ferris, the lady love interest of The Green Lantern, Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds). According to the script, Carol Ferris (27) is the daughter of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris. She works for her dad’s company Ferris Air, has an MBA, and has a lifetime crush on Hal Jordan.

The actresses that are up for the part have been revealed. They are (in no particular order): Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, Keri Russell, Eva Green, and Jennifer Garner.

In the comic books, Carol Ferris eventually goes from being Hal Jordan’s love interest to being Green Lantern’s nemesis, Star Sapphire, after she is possessed by a violet sapphire stone imbued with light powers much like Green Lantern’s emerald power ring. It’s too early to tell just closely the storyline of The Green Lantern (more likely the sequels) will follow this particular mythos of Ferris’ character, but in case it goes that way, the actress playing Carol Ferris would need to be able to tackle the role of Star Sapphire down the road.

Filming is set to begin in January so they’d better make a decision soon.
