Ghostbusters 3 to be released in 2011?

Ghostbusters 3 news

There has been a lot of speculation and false news about a Ghostbusters 3 production timeline. Finally, director Harold Ramis seems to be ready to begin filming another Ghostbusters sequel in 2010.

In an interview with Heeb Magazine, Ramis gave fans of Ghostbusters some hope.

Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future … GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011.

Sony has recruited Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (The Office) as writer-producers to work on the new installment of the 1980s franchise that starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis as bumbling ghost-hunting scientists.

The original filmmakers, including director Ivan Reitman, and cast are aware of the project and involved in its development. Some original cast members might be involved, but the focus will be on a new cast of Ghostbusters. Rumor is, Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno) really wants to be in it.
